President Donald Trump’s remarks on Friday about the Democratic and Republican presidential candidates and their alleged ties to the Islamic State group were one of the few times the president has expressed any frustration with his predecessors.
Trump made the remarks in an interview with the New York Times.
“I think they’re all part of the evil empire,” Trump said.
“There’s a lot of evil in the world.
I think they are all part in the same world, and they’re in a very bad place, but they are part of an evil empire, a very evil, very corrupt world.”
Trump also said that “the Democrats, by the way, are all being sold as the Democrats, and I think it’s a very, very dishonest thing, they are selling people as the Democratic party.”
“I’ve seen them do horrible things.
And I’ve seen Hillary Clinton do horrible deeds,” Trump added.
“She’s been a very terrible person.”
During the 2016 campaign, Trump repeatedly called Clinton and the Democratic Party “the party of destruction” and said the party “is destroying our country and the world.”
On Thursday, Trump said that he would “definitely” be taking “a lot of heat” from Democrats for his remarks.
But the president made the comments during a joint interview with Bill O’Reilly, which was recorded on Friday.
“And the Democrats are the party of destroying our republic,” Trump told O’Rourke.
“So, you know, I think you’re going to be treated very unfairly.”

(ABC News) “So the Democrats that are selling themselves as the party that is going to destroy our republic, the Democratic parties that are trying to destroy America are all working with the evil Islamic State,” Trump continued.
“But it’s the Democrats themselves who are trying that.
And that’s going to take a lot more of a beating.”
The comments come after Trump in recent days has come under fire for his use of Twitter to criticize both Hillary Clinton and Democratic senators, and his comments on Friday appear to echo those of the president.
The president, who has been critical of his predecessors, has taken aim at both of those groups.
On Friday, the president accused both groups of “sabotaging the economy and destroying the lives of millions” by “playing the same games” with Iran and North Korea.
“When I was in the House, I got a message from President Clinton that, ‘You know, you’re the party responsible for the destruction of the economy in the United States of America,'” Trump said, referencing the Clinton administration.
“It’s the same game.
It’s the exact same game that Hillary Clinton’s done.
It was a terrible, terrible, horrible, terrible game.
And it’s all of the Democrats.”
On Friday afternoon, Trump tweeted that he is “still not impressed” with both the Democrats and Republicans.
“They’re all going to say they’re the same, but it’s not the same,” Trump wrote.
“That’s a big, big lie.”
OBrien told ABC News on Friday that Trump’s comments to O’Keefe show that “Trump is trying to blame the media for his own problems, even as he is doing things that may make him look bad.”
“The president is using his own tweets and tweets to attack the media, to attack his own party and to attack both parties, and then he takes it back,” O’Donnell said.
The O’Malley campaign said in a statement that Trump “has no idea what he is talking about.”
“He was making an observation about both the GOP and the Democrats,” said Josh McElwee, the O’Hare, Illinois, political director.
“He doesn’t understand the difference between them.”
