How to stop Trump from impeaching President Obama, Trump says in new interview

By MARK BROOKS and MICHAEL RYANWASHINGTON — Donald Trump told MSNBC host Rachel Maddow that he’s been told that he is the target of an impeachment investigation by President Barack Obama.

Trump has been the target “by some of the worst people” in Washington since the impeachment of President Bill Clinton, Maddow said.

He said Trump would “take some heat” from Democrats if he’s not impeached.

Trump said that while he was not impeachable, the U.S. Constitution allows the president to be impeached for the conduct of the executive branch.

“I think it’s an important part of our democracy,” Trump said.

“We have to be able to exercise that constitutional power.”

The interview was first reported by CNN.
