What’s the difference between the Canadian and American public?

National Geographic published a special edition of their popular magazine, Life, in which they put the question to Americans and Canadians alike, asking what they thought of life in Canada.

The results?

The answers are mixed.

In Canada, a majority of Canadians (53%) feel more connected to nature than to people, according to a 2017 survey by Ipsos Reid.

In America, only 37% of Americans think nature is more important to them than people.

The difference between Canada and the U.S. is even more pronounced.

Americans are much more likely than Canadians to say that nature is “more important” to them (54% vs. 33%) and to say they value nature more than people (66% vs 16%).
